Apps that won't shrink
Some apps refuse to get smaller than a certain size. macOS doesn’t say what that size is in advance, so Shoji learns it.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”- Learn. When an app refuses a size, Shoji remembers the smallest size it accepted.
- Make room. The lines between windows move just enough to give that app its minimum size, as long as every other window still fits.
- Float when it can’t fit. If there’s no way to fit the window where it would go, it’s placed in the middle of its screen at its own size, and the other windows tile as if it weren’t there.
The first time Shoji meets such an app, it finds out while moving the window and plans again straight away, so the window gets its room (or floats) in the same moment.
Shoji never reorders your windows to make one fit. If you want a large app to be the primary window, swap it there yourself.
See and forget learned sizes
Section titled “See and forget learned sizes”Settings → Apps → Apps that can’t shrink lists every app Shoji has learned, with its size. Any means that side has no known limit.
Click Forget All to clear the list. Shoji will learn them again as needed.
The list holds only app names and sizes. It’s stored in Shoji’s preferences on this Mac, isn’t synced to iCloud, and is never sent anywhere.
