These terms are between you and Ankur Sehrawat, an individual based in India (“we”, “us”), the maker of Shoji, a window manager for macOS. By downloading, installing or using Shoji you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use Shoji.
1. Buying Shoji
- Shoji is a one-time purchase: no subscription. Every feature is included.
- Purchases are handled by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record. Dodo Payments sells the license to you, takes the payment, adds any sales tax or VAT for your country, and sends the receipt and your license key by email. Its own terms apply to the payment itself.
- Prices are shown on shojimac.com before you pay. We may change prices for future purchases; a change never affects a license you’ve already bought.
2. Your license
When you buy Shoji, you get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use it:
- On one Mac at a time for each license key, or two Macs with a two-Mac license. To move it to another Mac, deactivate it on the old one (Settings › License › Deactivate…) and activate it on the new one. If the old Mac is gone, write to us and we’ll free the key.
- Updates: all updates to Shoji 1.x are included. Updates are delivered inside the app and you choose when to install them.
- Shoji needs an active license to arrange windows. Without one, it opens but doesn’t tile.
You may not:
- share your license key, or use one key on more Macs than your license covers;
- sell, rent, lend or sublicense Shoji or a license key;
- copy, modify, decompile or reverse engineer Shoji, except where the law allows it despite this term;
- remove or get around the license check.
Shoji and everything in it (its code, design, name and logo) belong to us. The license gives you the right to use Shoji, not ownership of it.
3. Refunds
You can get a full refund within 7 days of buying. See the Refund Policy.
4. What Shoji does on your Mac
To arrange windows, Shoji needs macOS’s Accessibility permission, which you grant in System Settings and can take back at any time. With it, Shoji moves and resizes other apps’ windows; it doesn’t read what’s in them. How Shoji handles information is described in the Privacy Policy.
5. No warranty
We work hard to make Shoji reliable, but it’s provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the extent the law allows. We don’t promise that Shoji will work with every app, every Mac or every future version of macOS, or that it will be free of errors.
6. Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost data, profits or business, arising from your use of Shoji. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for your license. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer under the laws of your country.
7. Ending the license
Your license lasts until it ends. It ends if you get a refund, or if you break these terms (for example, by sharing your key), in which case we may turn the key off. When it ends, stop using Shoji and delete it.
8. Changes
We may update these terms, for example when Shoji gains features. The date at the top shows the latest version. Changes don’t take away rights you already have for a license you bought.
